DSNMC Legislative Priorities

DSNMC is an active advocate for the Down Syndrome community at all levels of governments.  Some of our legislative priorities include:

·  Maintaining robust budgets at the federal, state and county levels to ensure funding for the services and workers that benefit our community;

·  Supporting state legislation that expands awareness about individuals with Down Syndrome, increases opportunities for inclusion in school, at work and that support independence, and advances healthcare for individuals with Down Syndrome; and

· Supporting federal policies that improve educational opportunities for children with Down Syndrome, benefit the ability of individuals with Down Syndrome to be active community members, promote financial stability of individuals with Down Syndrome, enhance the healthcare provided to those with Down Syndrome and benefit research into Down Syndrome and associated health risks.
